Materials & Techniques: The Traditional Standard

Every sacred icon is written according to ancient canons and physical standards developed over millennia.

01

Hand-Prepared Supports

Every wooden icon begins with a custom-made board crafted from high-grade Baltic Birch plywood, selected specifically for its exceptional dimensional stability, strength, and resilience against warping over centuries.

02

The Authentic Levkas Ground

Unlike mass-produced boards that use synthetic acrylics, we prepare a traditional levkas ground using Professional Grade Rabbit Skin Glue (providing an organic bond that breathes with wood) and Natural Chalk & Marble Dust applied in 12 to 15 thin layers, then hand-sanded to a glass-like finish.

03

Time-Honored Durability

This labor-intensive, ancient process ensures the painted surface will not crack, flake, or peel over generations, preserving the "written" sacred image and its golden luminosity for centuries to come.
